Green Stormwater Infrastructure Improvements Project

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Broward County applied for and was awarded a grant from the Federally Funded Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program (CDBG-MIT) administered by the State of Florida through its Rebuild Florida’s Mitigation General Infrastructure Program. The grant is intended to support areas impacted by recent disasters through strategic and high-impact projects that will mitigate disaster risks and reduce future losses. Portions of Broadview Park experience extreme flooding during storm events that will be worsenedwith climate change and sea level rise, based on most current projections. The $16 million in federal funding approved with the grant, plus an additional $5 million allocated by Broward County, will allow for an approved $21 million for the planning, design, and construction of stormwater infrastructure improvements in Broadview Park.
